A short, affordable safari packed with elephants, baboons, flamingos and (with luck) tree-climbing lions.
The perfect short safari for travellers with limited time, or a great add-on for those finishing a Kilimanjaro trek or beach holiday. In just three days you'll experience two of Tanzania's most distinctive parks — Tarangire, famous for its enormous elephant herds and ancient baobab trees, and Lake Manyara, a Rift Valley jewel home to large flocks of flamingos, hippo pools and (seasonally) tree-climbing lions.
This itinerary works well as a standalone trip or as a combo with our Kilimanjaro and Zanzibar packages.
Morning departure from your hotel and drive to Tarangire National Park (about 3.5 hours). Famous for its dramatic baobab-studded landscape and the largest elephant population of any Tanzanian park outside the Serengeti. Picnic lunch in the park, then a full afternoon game drive following the Tarangire River where wildlife concentrates. Overnight at lodge or tented camp inside or near the park.
Morning game drive in Tarangire (often the best time for lion sightings), then drive to Lake Manyara National Park (about 2 hours). Manyara is a Rift Valley gem with groundwater forest, lakeshore woodland, and the alkaline lake itself — home to thousands of flamingos and pelicans. Afternoon game drive: watch for elephants, large baboon troops, and the famous tree-climbing lions. Overnight at lodge near the park entrance.
Morning game drive in Manyara before breakfast, then drive back to Arusha or Moshi (about 2.5 hours). You can arrive at Kilimanjaro Airport by mid-afternoon.
From $895 per person — perfect after Kilimanjaro or before Zanzibar.
