A perfect short safari to Tarangire and Lake Manyara — Tanzania's wildlife in 48 hours.
The shortest safari we run — and one of the best for travellers who only have a couple of days between flights, a Kilimanjaro climb or a beach break. In two days you'll experience two of Tanzania's most distinctive parks: Tarangire with its dramatic elephant herds and baobab trees, and Lake Manyara with its flamingo-pink lakeshore and (with luck) tree-climbing lions.
This itinerary works brilliantly as an add-on to a Kilimanjaro descent or before a Zanzibar flight. Available year-round.
Early morning pick-up from your hotel and drive (about 3.5 hours) to Tarangire. The park is famous for its huge elephant herds and dramatic baobab-studded landscape. Picnic lunch in the park, then a full afternoon game drive following the Tarangire River — the wildlife magnet of the dry season. Overnight at lodge or tented camp.
After breakfast, drive to Lake Manyara National Park (about 2 hours). Manyara is a Rift Valley gem with groundwater forest, big baboon troops, hippos, and the famous tree-climbing lions. Picnic lunch in the park, then drive back to Arusha/Moshi (arriving by late afternoon).
From $595 per person — Tanzania safari in its most compact form.
