Kilimanjaro's most scenic route in a compact week — quiet trails, the Shira Plateau and the Barranco Wall.
The 7-day Lemosho is the most popular Lemosho variant — combining the route's spectacular scenery (pristine western rainforest, Shira Plateau, Barranco Wall) with a manageable seven-day timeline. It's the best balance of acclimatisation, success rate and value on Kilimanjaro.
Days 2 and 3 are merged compared to the 8-day version, with a direct climb from Mti Mkubwa to Shira 2. If you want the absolute best acclimatisation profile and ~90% summit success, consider our 8-day Lemosho.
Drive from Moshi to Londorossi Gate (4 hours) on the remote western side of the mountain. After registration, a short drive to the trailhead, then a gentle 3-hour trek through pristine rainforest to Mti Mkubwa ("Big Tree") Camp.
Climb out of the rainforest onto moorland and cross the western edge of the Shira Plateau — a high-altitude caldera with sweeping views of Kibo's western face. A long day but with spectacular views throughout.
"Climb high, sleep low" day. Ascend gradually to Lava Tower for lunch, then descend into the dramatic Barranco Valley with its giant senecio trees.
The famous Barranco Wall scramble in the morning — non-technical but exhilarating — then a series of valleys to Karanga. A short day designed for acclimatisation.
Steady climb across alpine desert to the high camp at Barafu. Early dinner, rest — woken before midnight for the summit attempt.
Midnight start for the steep ascent past Stella Point to Uhuru Peak for sunrise. Celebrate, then descend all the way to Mweka Camp.
Easy descent through rainforest to Mweka Gate. Collect your summit certificate and transfer back to Moshi for hot showers and celebration.
From $1,900 per person — the most scenic route in seven days.
